Monday, November 17, 2025 – 5:30 pm LA - FRANKLIN
See a brand new sketch or solo show birthed right before your eyes that is auditioning for a run at the UCB theater.

It’s a show where we let sketch teams and solo performers try some shit out!

Some will be good, some will be bad but it will all be weird and new and that’s what makes it fun!

It’s experimental sketch at its finest! Come on, you know you need a spanking.

This Monday, we have…

Alan-cadabra! A comedian seeks redemption by reattempting the tricks from a failed magic show he performed when he was 6 years old.

At 6 years old, comedian Alan Giles performed a magic show for his family that was so bad, he swore he’d never do magic again. Now, thanks to a home video of the show recorded by his mom, he’s reattempting all of the same tricks in desperate search of one thing: redemption. Alan’s fate as a magician will be determined by a secret judge from the Magic Castle, who may or may not be lurking in the audience…

Following sold out shows at Hollywood Fringe Festival and iO Fest in Chicago, this will be the first performance of “Alan-cadabra!” on the UCB stage.

Audience quotes:

“A wonderfully irreverent and hilarious show crafted by a comedy pro!” – Kenny Gray

“In a town where existing IP reigns supreme, the video of Alan’s 2001 magic show should be the center of a massive bidding war.” – Daniel Shar

“I was in stitches from start to finish watching ‘Alan-cadabra!’.” – Yousaf Sajid

Alan Giles is a comedian who occasionally walks on stilts. His viral online sketch and character videos have garnered millions of views and hundreds of questions about his actual height (still undetermined). He has performed sketch and improv for 10+ years with many reputable comedy institutions around the country, including The Second City Touring Company, Baby Wants Candy, iO Theater, ImprovAcadia, and more. He is on Instagram @alan_is_tall.
